Rachel Williams, a senior outside hitter for No. 3 Stanford University, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. Heading to Washington to take on both the then-No. 3 Huskies and Cougars, Williams shined to lead the Cardinal to two victories and jump two spots in the latest AVCA Division I Coaches Poll. Against UW, the senior outside led all Stanford players with 11 kills on .529 hitting to go with nine digs, four blocks and two aces. It was also the first time Washington has been swept all season, and it was their first loss since losing at Colorado on October 4th. She followed that up by recording her team-best ninth double-double of the season with 11 kills and as many digs as she hit .435 in the sweep of WSU. Williams statistically performed well above her season averages for the week, posting increases in kills per set (2.72-3.67), hitting percentage (.235-.475) and digs per set (2.60-3.33). This is the 15th time a student-athlete from Stanford University has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week, with the most recent coming from Karissa Cook on October 18, 2011. The Cardinal is coached by John Dunning
