DIII No. 3 Vassar Opens NECVA Play With Win Over City College
Mahwah, N.J. - Vassar's top-seeded men's volleyball team opened the NECVA Tournament with a 3-0 win (30-15, 30-24, 30-16) over City College of New York on Friday afternoon. The Brewers (22-6)will play at 11:00 am on Saturday against the winner of the Hunter-MIT match.
In an evenly displaced 46 kill effort, Vassar got nine kills from freshman Evan Fredericksen (Menlo Park, CA), eight from junior Scott Leserman (Manhattan Beach, CA) and six from sophomore Phil Tully (Huntington Station, NY). Tully had a .500 attack percentage (6-1-10).
Sophomore Andres Posada (Miami, FL) had 15 assists against City College while junior John Kessenich (Chicago, IL) chipped in with 10 assists.
Lesserman had seven digs, senior Kyle Giunta (Penfield, NY) added six.
