1999 AVCA ALL-AMERICA TEAMS ANNOUNCED FOR DIVISION III WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is proud to announce the 19th annual All-America and National Player of the Year awards for Division III women's volleyball. The awards will be presented Dec. 2, 1999 at the NCAA Division III Women's National Championship banquet at Ellis Hall on the Juniata College campus in Huntingdon, Pa. beginning at 7:00 p.m. The Division III semifinals and finals are scheduled for 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Juniata's Memorial Gymnasium.
AVCA Division III National Player of the Year Abbie Brown from Central College has earned this award for the second straight year. Brown and Kristin Hershey of Juniata College were named to the first team for the third consecutive season. Juniata College and Central each placed three student-athletes on the on the first team all-America.
The 1999 All-America selections were made by the AVCA Division III All-America Committee: Jenny McDowell, Emory University, chairperson; Mary Cahill, Chapman University; Patti Ford, UW-River Falls; Valerie Gin, Gordon College; Jim Lodes, SUNY Brockport; Stephanie Schleuder, Macalester College; Mary Schutten, Calvin College; and Beth Ann Wilson, Marymount University.
