The meeting was called to order at approximately 11:35 a.m. ET. (10:30 a.m. CT)

ROLL CALL

Present: Sue Sinclair, Kanoe Bandy, Jane Peterson, Michael De Hoog, Lisa Huntley, Mike Trame, Vanessa Schroeder

Absent: Terry Gamble, Kim Lester, Jayme Frazier, Ben Staupe

Welcome

Sue welcomed all attendees to the meeting and went straight to the first agenda item.

I. Review of May's Minutes

Sue opened the meeting letting everyone know the May minutes had been approved and are already posted on the AVCA Web site.

II. Web Template

Sue asked that everyone please get their information to Rick so that he can create the web pages and have them completed and ready for review by the next meeting.

As a reminder, here are the assignments.

* DI - Terry Gamble

* DII - Mike Trame and Vanessa Schroeder

* DIII - Lisa Huntley and Jane Peterson - Jane to resend.

* COA - Kanoe (to review one last time)

* NWAAC - Mike De Hoog and Jayme Frazier

Sue also mentioned that on the other Division Web pages, there are links to 30 Kill, 30 Dig and other "stats clubs." She asked if this can be done for the Two Year Colleges. Rick explained that this information will now be collected when SIDs and/or coaches put in the scores of their matches. To add the "stats clubs," the Two-Year colleges would have to start entering scores to get to the form where they can add the stats. Sue did not think that would happen since the Two Year colleges don't enter their scores in the AVCA system.

III. Salary Survey

The salary survey is still being developed and very close to completion. Rick and Michel De Hoog to work on the last section (fund raised). Then Rick will pass around the final draft with the minutes so that the survey can be approved on the next call. Once this is done, it will then take two weeks to create and send out the survey. It should be able to go out by the end of September, the time frame everyone thinks would be best.

IV. Convention Project and Membership Profile

Sue decided not to discuss this topic until the next meeting, as Terry could not be on the call and he will be an important part of the data collection process, which he is working on with the IT people at Iowa Western.

V. Membership

Current Two-Year college membership is at 180 members.

This is the time of year to really push for membership. Committee members discussed ways to try and get new members.

* Sue asked about s "special section" of info to be placed in the new AVCA brochure. Rick mentioned that there was no specific info for any of the divisions, so, unfortunately, that would not be able to be done. However, a possible one-sheeter about Two-Year colleges could be created by the committee and then "folded in" with the new brochure and given and/or sent out to non-AVCA Two-Year college members. Everyone liked this idea and a discussion began on what "bullets'" of information to put on the one-sheeter. The list of AVCA benefits for Two-Year college coaches will be:

* Four-Year Rules (NCAA and NAIA Rules)

* Two-Year college presence at the AVCA Convention (booth, seminar session, Showcase)

* Transferability of athletes

* Awards

* Education (seminars, publications)

* Two-Year College Committee - sharing of information and opportunity for collaboration on issues for Two Year college coaches.

* Leadership Opportunities in promotion of the sport

* Early information availability on other aspects of volleyball (such as tournament structure, dates, schedules, rules, recruiting information, clearinghouse/amateurism.)

* Hand out brochures at tournament and matches. (Rick to send out 50-80 brochures to all committee members.) - Done

* Scan new membership brochure (when complete), make a PDF and put on AVCA Web site. Also, send to all committee members for distribution.

VI. AVCA Update

Rick gave a short update on things going on at the AVCA. This included:

* New AVCA Staff: Shay Ferguson (Awards), Leah Brock (Sports Information and Special Projects) and Toby Bishop (Sales).

* Convention Registration: Opens on August 20 at 1 p.m. See information on the AVCA Web site.

* Web Seminars: Two web seminars will be taking place. Stats seminar on August 20, 1 p.m., and Web casting seminar on August 21 at 2 p.m. An email was sent out detailing what the contents of each seminar will be, along with instructions on how to sign up for it. Attendance is limited to 100 people each.

* New Bulletin Board: The AVCA now has new software for the Bulletin Board and all members are encouraged to check it out and begin using it.

VII. Miscellaneous

Sue reminded everyone about the new Amateurism rules and Clearinghouse and asked if anyone has had any problems with it. No problems were mentioned.

Sue also mentioned that this will be her last year as chair of the Two-Year college committee. Her term ends at the end of the year. She added that while she very much enjoyed her time doing it, that it was time to give someone else a chance. She asked everyone to start thinking of names of people to nominate for the position.

With that, the meeting was ended.

Meeting adjourned at 12:15 p.m. ET

The next meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. ET (10:30 a.m. CT.) Topics will include: Web templates. Complete the Salary Survey and Convention Template/Recruiting Booth.
