Riverside, Calif. - Donald Baliaba and Adiel Tiedjop combined for 29 kills in a 3-0 (30-28, 30-18, 30-23) win over UC Santa Cruz.

The Lancers (8-7) also got a career-high six blocks from Jeff Black in the win over the Banana Slugs (10-7). The win gave CBU its 13th straight victory inside Van Dyne Gym dating back to 2007.

Baliaba hit .440 (14-4-25) and ripped two aces while Tiedjop hit .308 (14-6-26) with pair of aces as well. Eric Plunkett dished out a match-high 46 assists. Mike MacNeill and Blair Penner each had an ace as well.

Micah Tokuda had a match-high seven digs while Cory Spence and Plunkett each had three blocks.

The Lancers hit .393 (51-16-89) and hit .440 (15-4-25) in the final game. CBU held USCS to just a .127 clip (32-22-79) and recorded 8.5 blocks.

California Baptist trailed the first half of the opening game, but used a 6-0 run, after trailing 15-12, to take an 18-12 lead. UCSC battled back to tie the game at 19 and 20 before the Lancers got enough distance to put the game away on a Tiedjop kill.

In the second game, CBU broke a 2-2 tie with a 13-2 run to take a 15-4 lead. Baliaba had three kills while Tiedjop had two in the run. The Lancers cruised from there to take a 2-0 match lead.

In the final game, CBU trailed 2-4, before a kill by Baliaba and Penner, a red card handed to UCSC's head coach, Jonah Carson, and two aces from Tiedjop helped give the Lancers a 7-4 lead.. The Banana Slugs cut their deficit to 21-20 later in the game, but the Lancers closed the game out with a 9-3 run to get their overall record back above .500.

The Lancers will now play host to Holy Names tomorrow at 7 p.m.
