Sarah Pavan, a senior outside hitter for No. 1 Nebraska, continues to have awards come her way, as she has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week for her MVP performance at the AVCA College Volleyball Showcase this past weekend.  The reigning AVCA Division I National Player of the Year and 2006 Honda-Broderick Cup award winner played two solid matches at the premier tournament in helping the Huskers to wins over Tennessee and then-No. 5 UCLA.  In the Huskers' first match, a 3-0 sweep of the Lady Vols, Pavan had 14 kills in 24 attempts and only three errors for a .417 hitting percentage. She also added two aces, two digs and four total block s in the win. She followed that up with a 25-kill performance in Nebraska's four-game win over the Bruins in the championship match. She also scored one ace, 12 digs and three total blocks. For the weekend, Pavan averaged a .382 hitting percentage and 5.57 kills, two digs, one block and 6.50 points per game.  Six different athletes from Nebraska have earned the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week award a total of nine different times. Pavan is a two-time winner of the award, last receiving it on November 29, 2004. The last Nebraska player to win the award was Christina Houghtelling on August 29, 2005. Nebraska is coached by John Cook.
