Ashley Nu'u, a senior setter for the University of Colorado, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week after helping lead her team to two victories last week, including an upset of #1 and previously-undefeated Nebraska. In the Buffaloes first match last week, a three-game win over Kansas, Nu'u dished out 45 assists and led her team to a .241 hitting percentage. She added seven digs and six kills in the victory. Nu'u followed that up with a 62-assist performance in leading her team to a five-game victory over the top-ranked Huskers. She also contributed eight digs and three kills in the win. It was the first time in the 21-year history of the program that the Buffs have knocked off a No. 1-ranked team. For the week, Nu'u averaged 13.38 assists per game, while moving into fourth place on Colorado's all-time career assist list. She also averaged 1.88 digs per game and 1.12 kills per game in the two matches. Nu'u is the third player from Colorado to receive the Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week award, and the first since 1999. The Buffaloes are coached by Pi'i Aiu.
