Jessica Vander Kooi, a senior outside hitter for then-twenty-second-ranked Missouri, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. Vander Kooi led her team to a 2-0 record last week, including an upset of then-number five Texas, the school's first victory over a top-five opponent. She averaged an impressive 5.71 kills per game and 3.86 digs per game for the week, while hitting for a .345 percentage. In the upset of the Longhorns, Vander Kooi slammed down 13 kills at a .375 clip, and added eight digs. In a match against Kansas State earlier in the week, the Tiger senior recorded a double-double with 27 kills and 19 digs; she hit .327. The 27 kills are the most for a Missouri player since 2002; it was her fifth 20-kill match of the season. Vander Kooi is the third Missouri Tiger player to receive the Sports Imports/AVCA National Player of the Week. Missouri's Head Coach is Wayne Kreklow.
