Michelle Moriarty, a setter for the University of Texas, was named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week after leading her team to the 2006 AVCA College Volleyball Showcase Championship Saturday.  Moriarty, named MVP of the Showcase, guided the Longhorns to consecutive victories over Top 10 teams over the weekend.  Texas defeated # 9 Wisconsin in three games on Friday, a match in which the 5-10 junior recorded 44 assists and eight digs.  Moriarty's Longhorns then upset # 3 ranked and defending National Champion Washington on Saturday in a five-game thriller.  Her play in the Washington match included 12 digs and a match-high 64 assists; her play in game five of that match led to her team's .370 hitting percentage and a 15-13 come-from-behind win.  Moriarty's averages for the tournament were 13.5 assists per game and 2.5 digs per game, and her steady veteran leadership helped direct a young Longhorn team who suffered injuries to two key players.  She was a 2005 AVCA Honorable Mention All-American.
