Marisa Main, a 5-9 junior setter for 19th-ranked The Ohio State University (14-5, 7-3 Big Ten), has been chosen the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week after leading the Buckeyes to victories over then-12th-ranked Minnesota and Iowa. Main contributed back-to-back triple-doubles last week and averaged 13.86 assists, 1.1 blocks, 3.14 kills and 3.28 digs per game as the Buckeyes hit .296 as a team. She led OSU to a .257 attack percentage versus Minnesota with 37 assists, 12 kills, 13 digs and three blocks. Main contributed 60 assists, 10 kills, 10 digs and five blocks in a four-game win over Iowa as the Buckeyes hit .333. She increased her season averages to 12.75 assists, 1.96 kills, 2.3 digs and 0.63 blocks per game. Main is the fifth different Buckeye to win a total of seven national player of the week honors, the last being Stacey Gordon on Sept. 13, 2004. The Ohio State head coach is Jim Stone.
