No. 11 George Mason Falls at Princeton, 3-1

Princeton, N.J. - No. 11 George Mason (9-6, 2-3 EIVA Tait) took an early 1-0 lead but was unable to hold on for the win, falling to the Princeton Tigers (7-5, 2-3 EIVA Tait) by a final score of 3-1 (30-26, 25-30, 21-30, 25-30) in Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) Tait Division action on Saturday afternoon at Dillon Gym in Princeton, N.J.

Senior outside hitter Peter Eichler led the Tigers to the upset victory, recording a double-double with a match-high 20 kills, 11 digs and two aces. Princeton used no subs during the match while outhitting Mason .320 to .192. Sophomore opposite hitter Carl Hamming hit .583 with 16 kills, while junior middle blocker Mike Vincent tallied 10 kills. Junior setter Brandon Denham finished with 55 assists in the match.

A pair of Patriots finished with double-digit kills in the loss. Junior outside hitter Hudson Bates tallied a team-high 17 kills. Senior outside hitter Mark Burik chipped in 12 kills on 23 swings (.391). Sophomore Luke Maloney led the team with seven digs.

George Mason will attempt to get back on the winning track tomorrow when it plays East Stroudsburg in a 2 p.m. EIVA Tait Division match in Buchanan Gym at Hempfield High School in Landisville, Pa.
