Josi Lima, a 6-0 senior middle blocker for 24th-ranked University of Kansas (10-1, 2-0 Big 12), has been chosen the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week after leading the Jayhawks to league victories over then-15th-ranked Texas A&M and Oklahoma. She averaged 5.56 points, 5.00 kills, 0.75 blocks and 2.75 digs per game while hitting .426 on 68 attacks. Lima hit .467 with 19 kills, 11 digs and four blocks in an upset of Texas A&M on Sept. 14. She contributed a career-high 21 kills, 11 digs, two blocks and an ace while attacking .395 versus Oklahoma on Sept. 17. Lima averages 4.95 points, 4.11 kills, 2.55 digs, 1.11 blocks per game while hitting .297. KU improved to 10-1 on the season and is perfect at home in eight matches. Lima is the first Jayhawk to earn the national honor. The Kansas head coach is Ray Bechard.
