Ashley Adams, a 6-1 freshman right side/opposite hitter for Middle Tennessee State University (6-1, 0-0 Sun Belt), has been chosen the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week after leading the Blue Raiders to the championship of the SpringHill Suites Invitational hosted by Charlotte University Sept. 2-3. Adams averaged 4.27 points, 3.55 kills, 0.73 blocks, 0.64 digs and 0.48 assists per game as Middle Tennessee defeated Charlotte and Delaware in three games and Texas-San Antonio in five games. She hit .588 with 10 kills and two blocks versus Charlotte. Adams followed with 12 kills, two blocks, five digs and two assists with a .524 attack percentage versus Delaware. She finished the week with 17 kills on a .500 attack percentage, four blocks, two digs and two assists versus UTSA. Adams is the first Blue Raider to earn the national honor. The Middle Tennessee head coach is Matt Peck.
