Tiffany Blum, a 6-3 freshman middle blocker for College of Charleston (20-5, 12-1 Southern), has been chosen the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week after leading the Cougars to victories over Georgia Southern and Davidson. Blum averaged 6.78 points, 5.14 kills, 2.29 blocks and 0.57 digs per game while hitting .542 for the week. She contributed a .576 hitting percentage with 21 kills and 11 blocks in a four-game victory over Georgia Southern to begin the week. Blum attacked at a .500 percentage versus Davidson on 15 kills and 26 attempts. She added four digs and five blocks in the three-game victory. Blum improved her season averages to 4.17 points, 3.13 kills and 1.37 blocks per game, while raising her cumulative attack percentage to a Southern Conference-leading .340. She is the first Cougar player in school history to earn the national award. The College of Charleston head coach is Sherry Dunbar.
