Aline Pereira, a 5-10 senior outside hitter for George Mason University (16-12, 10-4 CAA), has been chosen the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. Pereira earned the Most Outstanding Performer award at the Colonial Athletic Association Championship after leading the Patriots to their second straight CAA title. She recorded 72 kills in GMU's two tournament victories for an average of nine kills per game. Her 43-kill performance versus Hofstra in the finals ranks as the sixth-best four-game kill total in NCAA history. It also marked the second time in eight days she reached the 40-kill mark. Pereira added six digs, two blocks and an assist in the match. She tallied 29 kills in a four-game semifinal win over James Madison, adding five digs, a block and an ace in that outing. Additionally, Pereira was named the CAA Player of the Year for the third consecutive season, becoming just the second player in league history to receive the honor three times. The George Mason University head coach is Patricia Kendrick.
