Jessica Belter, a 6-4 junior right side/opposite hitter for the University of Illinois (15-3, 6-2 Big Ten), has been chosen the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. Belter had the best back-to-back performances of her collegiate career in helping lead the Illini into a four-way tie for first place in the Big Ten standings with Illinois' first weekend road sweep at Michigan State and Michigan since 1998. She posted a career-high-tying 16 kills at Michigan State, with two errors in 19 swings for a career-high .737 hitting percentage. Belter also tallied a match-high four blocks in Illinois' sweep of the Spartans. She registered 12 kills and 11 digs, hitting a match-high .417 with two errors in 24 swings, in the 3-1 victory over Michigan. Belter just missed a triple-double in the win over the Wolverines as she tied her career best in blocks with eight. She posted averages of 4.0 kills, 1.7 blocks and 2.0 digs per game on combined .558 hitting. The University of Illinois head coach is Don Hardin.
