Laura Hageman, a 6-2 senior middle blocker for Ohio University (12-3, 3-0 Mid-American), has been chosen the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. Hageman led Ohio to two sweeps of league opponents, stretching the Bobcats' win streak to a school-record-tying 10 matches. She recorded 16 kills, nine blocks (six of which were solos), seven digs and hit .452 against Miami (Ohio). Hagemen registered a .483 hitting effort on 15 kills and one error in 29 attempts in a win at Ball State, the Bobcats' first win over the Cardinals in their last 27 tries. Several of Hageman's averages on the week were higher than her season averages with 6.92 points (2003 - 5.11 ppg), 5.17 kills (2003- 4.06 kgp), 2.17 blocks (2003 - 1.43 bpg) and a .467 hitting percentage (2003 - .273). Hageman has been named the MAC East Division Player of the Week for the fourth time in 2003. The Ohio University head coach is Geoff Carlston.
