Erika Lange, a 6-2 senior middle blocker for Northwestern University (4-2), has been chosen the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. Lange was tabbed as the most valuable player at the Chicago Challenge after the Wildcats swept Loyola-Chicago, Mississippi and host Illinois-Chicago. The Preseason All-Big Ten selection hit .529 over the nine-game span, including a .652 effort (17k-2e-23a) against UIC. Lange averaged 5.33 kills per game, posting double-figure kills in all three matches (16, 15 and 17, respectively). She also added 11 blocks (1.22 bpg), nine digs (1.00 dpg) and an assist in the tournament. Lange ranks among the Big Ten Conference leaders in hitting percentage, kills per game and blocks per game and was named the league's co-player of the week. The Northwestern University head coach is Keylor Chan.
