OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (December 18, 2014) - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is proud to announce that Trinity Christian College Head Women's Volleyball Coach Bill Schepel has been selected as the 2014 AVCA NCCAA National Coach of the Year, while Manhattan Christian College Assistant Coach Ray Sanders has been tabbed as the 2014 AVCA NCCAA National Assistant Coach of the Year.

It was an unbelievable season for the Trolls of Trinity Christian College, ending with the program's first ever NCCAA Division I National Championship Title. They entered the tournament as the top seed and did not disappoint, defeating Colorado Christian University in four to cap the year. They finished with an overall record of 38-10, which tied the program record for most in a single season. Trinity Christian swept the tournament individual honors with Schepel winning coach of the year and setter Erynn Schuh winning the MVP and Player of the Year.

After dropping four of their first five matches of the season, the Trolls rattled off 15 consecutive wins to ensure they were playing their best volleyball at the perfect time. They ended the season on a 12-3 run with the last six coming in the NCCAA Division I National Tournament.

Sanders helped lead Manhattan Christian to the NCCAA Division II National Tournament where they held the No. 6 seed. They were an offensive force, leading the nation in both hitting percentage (.304), kills per set (12.66) and assists per set (11.92).

The AVCA formally presented both coaches their awards at the 2014 Jostens Coaches Honors Luncheon in Oklahoma City, Okla. on Thursday, December 18. The luncheon is held in conjunction with the 2014 AVCA Annual Convention.
