Allie Frappier, a junior outside hitter for Pomona-Pitzer Colleges, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week. It was a record-setting offensive weekend for Frappier, leading the Sagehens to a pair of victories, including one over an AVCA ranked program. She kicked off the week against Occidental smashing 25 kills and 14 digs before her record-setting performance the following day. In the four-set win over No. 23 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, the junior tallied an astounding 40 kills on .389 hitting. The previous single-match kill record was 35, set in 1990, and it is tied for sixth-highest in NCAA Division III history for a four-set match. Her 17 digs also gave her the second double-double of the week to go along with her three blocks. For the week, she averaged 8.12 kills and 3.87 digs per set and hit .336. This is the third time a student-athlete from Pomona-Pitzer has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week, with the most recent coming from Andrea Bustmante on September 21, 1998. The Sagehens are coached by Valerie Cowan.
