Ariel Turner, a senior outside hitter for No. 22 Purdue University, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. Turner used a strong week to propel the Boilermakers to their third straight NCAA Tournament appearance with wins over Big Ten foes Indiana and Wisconsin. She nailed 18 kills and hit .366 with 14 digs in the sweep against the Hoosiers, and followed that up with a match-high 24-kill performance against the Badgers. She also added 17 digs, four aces and three blocks in her final home match on senior night. Her 997 career digs moves her just three shy from becoming Purdue's seventh 1,000-kill, 1,000-dig performer. Her two double-doubles were her 14th and 15th of the year. For the week, the Colorado native averaged exactly six kills and 4.4 digs per set while attacking at a .373 clip. This is the fourth time a student-athlete from Purdue has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week, with the most recent honor going to Rachel Davis the week of November 15, 2011. Turner is now a two-time Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week honoree. The Boilermakers are coached by Dave Shondell.
