Brad Lawson, a 6-7 senior outside hitter for Stanford University, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division I-II National Player of the Week. The No. 4 ranked Cardinal went on to win both of their matches on the road against then-No. 9 Long Beach State and No. 10 Cal State Northridge. Against the Niners, Lawson smashed 21 kills and hit .360, including another four aces and four digs in the five-set victory. He followed up that performance with another 19 kills and hit at a.342 clip adding another five digs to his total. His kill totals of 21 and 19 were his highest of the season. For last week, he accumulated 40 kills (4.44 per set), nine digs, five aces, four blocks and a .352 hitting percentage. This is the 10th time a Stanford men's volleyball player has been named a Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week, and an unprecedented fourth time Lawson has won it himself. The last time he took home the honor was February 28th of last year. Stanford is coached by John Kosty.
