Carson Clark, a 6-5 senior opposite for No. 1 UC Irvine, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division I-II National Player of the Week. He led the Anteaters to a pair of road MPSF victories over then-No. 13 Cal State Northridge and No. 9 Long Beach State to extend their winning streak to nine. Clark had a tremendous first match of the week against the Matadores, nailing 17 kills and hitting .667. He also added another five digs, two service aces and two block assists. The California native continued his strong play against the 49ers, tallying nine digs with three aces and as many digs. For the week, Clark averaged 4.33 kills per set and ended up as the all-time leader in program history with 1,712 career kills. This is the 19th time a UCI men's volleyball player has been named a Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week, with the most recent coming earlier this year the week of January 31st when Kevin Tillie took home the honor. However, this marks the third time overall that Clark has garnered the award. The Anteaters are coached by John Speraw.
