Chris Newcomb, a 6-0 senior outside hitter for Hunter College, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division III National Player of the Week.  Newcomb led the Hawks to a perfect 3-0 record last week to remain unbeaten in the CUNYAC.  Their biggest win of the week came against cross-town rival and No. 14 ranked Baruch in a sweep, where he finished with 12 kills, eight digs, and four block assists.  A couple of matches later against Brooklyn, the Hawai'i native hit an even. 500 with 10 kills.  For the week, Newcomb finished with 28 kills and a .345 attack percentage with four service aces and 15 digs.  This is the third time a Hunter men's volleyball player has been named a Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week, with the most recent coming the week of March 24, 2008 when Zacarias Ripoll won the award. The Hawks are coached by Ray Bello.
