Chris Vaughan, a 6-4 outside hitter for No. 10 Stevens Institute of Technology, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division III National Player of the Week. Vaughan controlled both matches with his steady offensive and defensive play as the Ducks hosted two schools ranked in the latest AVCA Coaches Poll. First up was No. 5 MIT, where he led the Ducks with 17 kills hitting .500 with seven digs and four blocks. He didn't let up against No. 11 Baruch, nailing another 11 kills and four aces while also collecting 11 digs and two blocks. After recording a .476 hitting percentage against the Bearcats, his .491 weekly average was .149 higher than his season average of .342.
This is the eighth time in program history a Stevens student-athlete has garnered Sports Imports/Player of the Week honors, with the most recent coming from Kevin Aeckerle on February 21, 2012. The Ducks are coached by Patrick Dorywalski.
