Eric Fitterer, a 6-8 sophomore opposite for No. 14 Lewis University, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division I-II National Player of the Week. Absolutely vital to the Flyers' current seven-match winning streak, Fitterer helped lead Lewis to a pair of victories last week racking up double-digit kills in both matches. In their first match against Lindenwood, the Illinois native smashed 11 kills hitting .667 in the sweep, and followed that up with a 12-kill effort over Quincy (.450). His 3.83 kills per set, .543 hitting percentage and 0.50 aces per set were well above his season averages of 2.47, .242 and 0.24, respectively. Lewis is currently a perfect 4-0 in conference play while Fitterer has led the squad in kills in all of those matches hitting at a .462 clip. This is the 12th time a player from Lewis has received the Sports Imports/Player of the Week award, with the most recent coming from Greg Petty on January 24th of last year. The Flyers are coached by Dan Friend.
