Halea Williams, a senior middle blocker for The University of Texas at Dallas, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week. Williams used strong and consistent all-around play to lead the Comets to victories in all three matches played at the ASC "Dig Pink" Crossover Challenge in Alpine, Texas. In the first victory over Howard Payne, Williams nailed nine kills and hit .615. Over the course of the next two matches over host Sul Ross State and Texas Lutheran, the senior tallied another 18 kills, six digs and seven blocks. For the week, she averaged 2.70 kills per set and hit .429, which were significant improvements over her season averages of 2.02 and .265, respectively. This is the fourth time an athlete from Texas-Dallas has earned the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week award, and the most recent since Dana Hilzendager took home the award the week of October 25, 2011. The Comets are coached by Marci Sanders.
