Heather Schiller, a sophomore middle blocker for No. 1 Concordia University, St. Paul, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week. The Golden Bears won all three matches last week, with the clear highlight being the five-set victory over then-No. 1 Minnesota Duluth. Prior to that match against the Bulldogs, Schiller smashed 15 kills and hit an even .600 to go along with her three blocks in the sweep of Minnesota State. Against then-No. 1 UMD, the sophomore nailed a career-high 16 kills on .389 hitting to help lead Concordia-St. Paul to a top ranking national ranking for the first time since the AVCA Preseason Coaches Poll. After the sweep of St. Cloud State to follow, Schiller finished the week averaging 3.64 kills and 1.18 blocks per set attacking at a .440 clip. This is the 14th time a student-athlete from Concordia-St. Paul has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week, with the most recent coming from Kayla Koenecke on October 30, 2012. The Golden Bears are coached by Brady Starkey.
