Iona Lofrano, a sophomore outside hitter for California State University, Los Angeles, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week.  Playing two matches on the road, the Golden Eagles got it done on the offensive and defensive end to lead her team to a perfect 2-0 conference start.  At Humboldt State, Lofrano nailed a career-high 27 kills on .404 hitting in the five-set victory after once trailing 2-1.  Defensively, she registered 13 digs and three blocks.  Elevating an already high bar, she increased her hitting efficiency to .486 after tallying 18 kills with just one error on 35 attempts.  She also notched her second double-double with 11 digs.  This is the fourth time a student-athlete from Cal State LA has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week, with the most recent coming from Te'Ara Eppes on October 20, 2003.   The Golden Eagles are coached by Randi Smart.
