Jack Tutty, a 6-10 sophomore middle blocker for Mount Olive College, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division I-II National Player of the Week. He led the Trojans to a perfect 5-0 record including a four-match sweep at the York College Men's Volleyball Classic to capture the tournament championship. In Tutty's first match of the week against Division I St. Francis (Pa.), he hit .500 recording 13 kills, including a kill in two of the final three points of the fifth set. It was their first win over a D-I opponent since 2008, and their first over St. Francis in seven matches dating back to 2005. The Australian native continued his strong play into the York Classic, accumulating 34 kills and a.586 hitting percentage in the four, five-set victories. He also racked up another 21 blocks and 19 block assists for the week. He is currently only nine kills shy of being eligible to be ranked second in the nation in hitting percentage. This is just the second time a Mount Olive men's volleyball player has been named a Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week, with the only previous one coming the week of February 18, 2008 when Noel Garcia garnered the award. The Trojans are coached by Cole Tallman.
