Jimmy O'Leary, a 6-6 sophomore middle blocker for No. 2 Springfield College, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division III National Player of the Week. The Pride went a perfect 4-0 to win the MIT Invitational and extend their winning streak to 17. He started his week against Philadelphia Biblical where he had four kills, (.667 hitting percentage) three aces and six total blocks before resting against Bard later that day. He was back in action against No. 8 Medaille where he hit .400 with five kills and as many blocks. The Pennsylvania native saved his best match for last when he totaled 13 kills, hit .545 and added another three blocks in their finals win over No. 13 Elmira. For the week, the sophomore averaged 2.44 kills and 1.56 blocks per set while hitting .526. With their record currently standing at 29-5, they have set the program record for most wins in a season. This is the 21st time a Springfield men's volleyball player has been named a Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week, their third straight honor and fourth this season.
