Lutjen helped lead the Hawks to a perfect 3-0 record last week in the Vassar Tournament, including a win over then-No. 1 Nazareth College. After sweeping Johnson & Wales, they faced off against the top-ranked country in the nation who entered the match with an undefeated 30-0 record. The Eagles went on to sweep the Golden Flyers thanks to Lutjen's 10-kill, .818 hitting percentage, 19 assists and nine dig effort. He also helped his squad to a .407 team hitting percentage. The New York native had an almost equally impressive match against No. 10 Vassar, smashing nine kills on .667 hitting with 17 assists. For the week, Lutjen had 22 kills, hit an even .600 and tallied another 47 assists while the Hawks hit .367 as a team for the week. This is the sixth time a SUNY New Paltz player has been named a Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week, with the most recent honor coming from Mike LaRocco on March 29, 2004. The Hawks are coached by Radu Petrus.
