Kayla Koenecke, a junior right side for No. 2 Concordia University, St. Paul, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week. In both of the Golden Bears' victories, Koenecke was an all-around force while also becoming the 14th CU member to join the 1,000 kill-club. She opened up the week against then-No. 18 Wayne State, and went on to record the fifth-best attack percentage in program history, hitting .773 with 17 kills on 22 attempts and no errors. The following day at Augustana, the junior recorded her team-leading seventh double-double with another 13 kills and 10 digs. For the week, the Minnesota native averaged five kills and 3.17 digs per set while hitting .583. This marks an unprecedented 13th time a player from Concordia-St. Paul has earned a Sports Imports/AVCA Division II Player of the Week honor, with the most recent honoree occurring earlier this year when Cassie Haag won it the week of September 4th. The Golden Bears are coached by Brady Starkey.
