Kelly Murphy, a freshman setter/right side hitter for then-No. 10 University of Florida, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week for her strong play in helping the Gators defeat two Southeastern Conference Opponents. In Florida's match 3-0 win over Arkansas, Murphy scored a triple-double, as she dished out 18 assists, while putting away a career-high 15 kills and scooping up 10 digs. She also hit at a .619 clip and scored two blocks in the match. Murphy is the first freshman and just the second Gator in history to achieve a triple-double. In her next match, she notched a double-double, her sixth one of the season, as she handed out a career-high 29 assists, while collecting 13 kills, nine digs, one block and one ace in the 3-1 win over Ole Miss. For the week, Murphy averaged 6.71 assists, 4.0 kills, 2.71 digs and 4.29 points per set. This is the eighth time an athlete from Florida has received the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week award. The last Gator to win the award was Elyse Cusak on November 6, 2006. Florida is coached by Mary Wise.
