Kelsey Robinson, a senior outside hitter for No. 9 University of Nebraska, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. The then-No. 10 Huskers squared off against two Big Ten foes in then-No. 8 Minnesota and then-No. 23 Wisconsin, and came out victorious in both. Against the Golden Gophers, Robinson smashed 21 kills on an astounding .450 hitting to lead Nebraska to a sweep. She followed that up with an even more impressive performance against the Badgers, collecting a career-high 29 kills attacking at a .393 clip. She also got it done on the defensive end, racking up a team-high 22 digs and four blocks after her seven dig performance the previous night. For the week, the Big Ten Co-Player of the Week averaged 6.3 kills and 3.6 digs per set while hitting .417 against some of the top talent in the nation. This is the 13th time a student-athlete from Nebraska has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week, with the most recent coming from Hannah Werth on November 22, 2011. However, Robinson did earn national player of the week honors on October 11, 2011 while playing for the University of Tennessee. The Huskers are coached by John Cook.
