Kevin Aeckerle, a 6-0 freshman setter for No. 8 Stevens Institute of Technology, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division III National Player of the Week. Aeckerle led the Ducks to a pair of home wins over No. 4 Juniata College and New Jersey City University. Against the Eagles in their first matchup of the week, the freshman finished with 36 assists and eight digs in the five-set victory. Later that day against NJCU, the New York native continued his high level of play adding another 29 assists and four digs while leading his squad to a .350 team hitting percentage. This is the seventh time a Stevens men's volleyball player has been named a Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week, with the most recent coming the week of January 31, 2010 when Brandt Grobeis won the award. The Ducks are coached by Patrick Dorywalski.
