Krista Vansant, a junior outside hitter for No. 3 University of Washington, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. It was another stellar week in all facets of the game for the star outside hitter, leading her squad to two home victories over Pac-12 foes UCLA and then-No. 4 Southern California. Against the Bruins, she tallied 14 kills on .393 hitting with another seven digs and three blocks in the sweep. She followed that up with her 10th double-double of the season after smashing 21 kills and collecting 11 digs in the four-set victory over the Trojans. The former Under Armour High School All-American also had two service aces and a season-high six blocks. The two victories extended the Huskies winning streak to 13, and currently sit in first place of the Pac-12 conference with a 15-1 conference record (23-1 overall). For the week, she averaged exactly five kills, 2.57 digs, 1.29 blocks and six points per set while hitting .382. This is the eighth time a student-athlete from the University of Washington has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week, and the second for Vansant. She last took home the honor on October 2, 2012. The Huskies are coached by Jim McLaughlin.
