Kristen Guercio, a senior setter for No. 9 SUNY Cortland, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week. The Red Dragons improved to 13-0 on the season after going a perfect 5-0 at the Union Invitational, in large part due to Guercio's setting. In Cortland's second match of the week against Skidmore where she tallied 61 assists, she became the program's career assist leader. Those 61 assists was the setter's second-highest single-match total and the highest ever in a four-set match. Her other stand out performance came against Union, where she accumulated another 53 assists. For the week, the New York native racked up 205 assists, averaging 12.06 assists per set. This is the fourth time an athlete from SUNY Cortland has earned the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week award, and the second time for Guercio after she won it the week of November 9, 2010. The Red Dragons are coached by Pam Hoerup.
