Krystie Luczynski, a senior middle blocker for Roger Williams University, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week. She was recently named the 2013 Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Year leading her squad to a No. 1 NCAA Regional Ranking for the first time in program history. She was dominant at the net again last week collecting another two wins to push their record to 30-3. In her first match against Western New England, the senior nailed 16 kills on .406 hitting with an ace. Two days later against Endicott, she stepped it up on the offensive and defensive end, tallying 19 kills hitting at a .792 clip to go along with her three digs and five blocks. For the week, the middle averaged five kills, 0.71 blocks and 5.64 points per set as they begin NCAA Tournament play later this week against St. Joseph's (L.I.). This is the second time a student-athlete from Roger Williams has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week, with both coming from Luczynski when she first won it on November 8, 2011. The Hawks are coached by Ben Somera.
