Lianna Sybeldon, a sophomore middle blocker for No. 3 University of Washington, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. The Huskies continued their strong season last weekend with a pair of Pac-12 victories on the road, and Sybeldon was in the center of it. In their four-set victory over UCLA, the sophomore middle smashed 12 kills on an even .400 hitting adding another seven blocks. She was able to continue her strong play by registering a career-high 15 kills, attacking at a .462 clip on Sunday evening against No. 4 Southern California. After factoring an additional five blocks, her 18 total points was another career-high to help snap the Trojans' 16-match home winning streak. The Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week finished the weekend averaging 3.38 kills and 1.50 blocks per set while hitting .431. This is the seventh time a student-athlete from Washington has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week, with the most recent coming from teammate Krista Vansant on October 2, 2012. The Huskies are coached by Jim McLaughlin.
