Liz McGowan, a sophomore libero for No. 2 Nebraska-Kearney, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division II National Player of the Week. It was a great week for the Lopers, defeating two teams ranked in the top-10 of the AVCA Coaches Poll. First up was then-No. 6 Central Missouri that saw McGowan dig 34 balls and not have a single reception error in 34 attempts. Her solid digging led her offense to hit an impressive .293 for the match. They then faced off against then-No. 3 Washburn, and the Nebraska native dug another 35 balls in the five-set victory. For the week, McGowan averaged 8.75 digs per set and only committed one reception error in 69 attempts. This marks the 10th time a player from UNK has earned a Sports Imports/AVCA Division II Player of the Week honor, with the most recent honoree occurring last year, the week of October 8th, when Jenna Rouzee garnered the award. The Lopers are coached by Rick Squieres.
