McKenzie Adams, a senior outside hitter for The University of Texas at San Antonio, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. The 2013 Conference USA Preseason Player of the Year has certainly not disappointed, continuing her dominance this past weekend in victories over Charlotte and Marshall. She kicked off the week against the 49ers with a 17-kill, 12-dig performance and a .343 hitting percentage in the sweep on the road. She followed that up two days later at Marshall with a career-high 31 kills and 21 digs, which was her first career 30-kill/20-dig performance in her illustrious career. However, this wasn't a case of an outside hitter accumulating large kill numbers while taking a ton of swings, completing the match attacking at a .426 clip. For the week, she averaged 6.86 kills, 4.71 digs and 0.71 blocks per set and hit a robust .396. This is the first time a student-athlete from UTSA has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. The Roadrunners are coached by Laura Neugebauer-Groff.
