Schoenfeldt's Most Outstanding Player Performance Vaults Buckeyes to MIVA Title

May 3 - Ted Schoenfeldt, a 6-5 middle blocker for then-No. 10 The Ohio State University, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week after leading the Buckeyes to the 2010 MIVA Tournament title and an automatic berth in the NCAA Men's Volleyball Championship. In OSU's 3-1 MIVA semifinal win over then-No. 13 Ball State, Schoenfeldt recorded eight kills on .583 hitting, in addition to tallying one dig and two blocks. The senior played a major role in the Buckeyes' hard-fought 3-2 victory over then-No. 15 Loyola-Chicago in the championship match, recording a career-high 12 blocks. In the deciding fifth game, Schoenfeldt came through with four kills and four blocks,  and scored OSU's final three points of the game to secure the win. For the week, Schoenfeldt, who was named the Most Outstanding Player of the championship, hit .467 and averaged 1.89 kills, 1.56 blocks and 2.83 points per game. This marks the second time Schoenfeldt has garnered Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division I-II National Player of the Week honors, also earning the nod April 6, 2009. The last Buckeye to land the distinction was Steven Kehoe on March 22, 2010.  Ohio State is coached by Pete Hanson.
