Hansen totaled 79 kills in four wins last week.(photo courtesy of Carthage Athletics) | Hansen overpowers opponents in perfect week January 31st - Randy Hansen, a 6-0 senior outside hitter for No. 3 Carthage College, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division III National Player of the Week. The Red Men went a perfect 4-0 last week including wins over then-No.1 Nazareth and then-No. 5 Juniata. In their victory over the number one ranked team in the nation, Hansen notched 23 kills and collected eight digs. Against Juniata the following day, the Illinois native racked up another 27 kills (.404 attack percentage) and 12 digs. With the other two wins coming against Southern Vermont and then-No. 14 Philadelphia Bliblical, the senior averaged 5.26 kills and 2.06 digs per set while hitting at a .436 clip. This is the seventh time a Carthage men's volleyball player has been named a Sports Imports/AVCA Player of the Week, with the most recent coming the week of March 7th of last year when Matt Yanz garnered the award.
