Michelle Sicner, a junior setter for Creighton University, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. Sicner registered two triple-doubles in both victories that were also their first Big East Conference home matches in program history. In both matches against DePaul and Marquette, she was a strong attacker smashing 12 kills and hitting .579 with just one error. In the four-set win over the Blue Demons the junior did it all adding another 39 assists, 12 digs, three blocks and an ace. However, she was far from done. Two days later hosting the Golden Eagles she continued her strong play collecting 33 assists, 15 digs and leading her squad to a .283 team hitting percentage to hand Marquette their first conference loss of the season. For the week, the Nebraska native averaged 10.49 assists, 3.43 kills and 12 digs per set and hit .579. Thanks to her outstanding weekend she became the second player in Creighton history to record consecutive triple-doubles. This is the first time a student-athlete from Creighton has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week. The Bluejays are coached by Kirsten Bernthal Booth.
