Women's NAIA Player of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Cailie Johnson of Cornerstone (Mich.) has been named the NAIA Volleyball National Player of the Week, the national office announced Tuesday. Johnson was selected based on her performances from Oct. 7 - Oct. 13 and was chosen out of a pool of conference player of the week selections among 23 conferences and independents.

Johnson, a 6-foot junior middle hitter from Rockford, Mich., hit at a .452 clip and averaged 3.43 kills per set and 1.52 digs per set to help Cornerstone go 5-0 last week, including three Top 25 wins. For her efforts, she was named to the Spartan All-Tournament Team and gathered Tournament MVP honors. The highlight of her week came on Oct. 11 at the Spartan Invitational, hosted by Missouri Baptist. In the 3-2 win (25-20, 26-24, 30-32, 21-25, 15-9) over No. 17 Missouri Baptist, Johnson went for a season-high 22 kills and 17 digs. It was her sixth contest with a double-double. She had an all-around balanced stat sheet with 12 kills, five digs, five block assists and hit .455 in the 3-2 victory (23-25, 26-24, 27-25, 18-25, 17-15) over No. 19 Grand View (Iowa) on Oct. 11.

In national statistics, Johnson ranks 10th in hitting percentage (.383) and 28th in total kills (313).
