Renee Berry, a senior right side/opposite for Ohio Northern University, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week. She earned the award after being named the MVP of the Ohio Northern Invitational, where she helped lead her team to an undefeated record, sweeping all four opponents, including two of which were nationally-ranked. Berry started the tournament off by tying her career-high with 21 digs in the first whitewashing of the weekend against Heidelberg, in addition to chipping in six kills, four assists and two blocks. She followed that up with a nine-kill, 10-dig performance against then-No. 16 Calvin. In her next match, Berry notched a double-double with 10 kills and 16 digs, while hitting at a .500 clip against then-No. 8 Southwestern (Texas). She finished the weekend by setting multiple career-highs in kills (13), digs (24), hitting percentage (.571) and assists (6), en route to racking up her second-consecutive double-double against Thomas More. For the week, Berry averaged 3.17 kills, 5.42 digs and 1.08 assists per set. This is the ninth time an athlete from Ohio Northern has earned the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week award. The Polar Bears are coached by Kate Witte.
