Robb Stowell, a 6-7 right side hitter for Brigham Young University, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I-II Men's National Player of the Week for his outstanding play in leading the Cougars to a pair of MPSF wins, both coming over then-No. 8 Long Beach State. The sophomore began the week by narrowly missing a triple-double, collecting 19 kills, 11 digs and nine blocks, in addition to tallying two service aces in the four-set win. In his next match, also a 3-1 victory, Stowell was equally as impressive, as he pounded 26 kills on .657 hitting, while totaling 11 digs and four blocks for his second-consecutive double-double. For the week, Stowell hit .521 and averaged 5.63 kills, 2.75 digs and 1.63 blocks per game. This is the second time this season (20th overall) a BYU athlete has earned Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division I-II Player of the Week accolades, the last player to do so being Andrew Stewart on March 15. The Cougars are coached by Shawn Patchell.
