Robert Feathers, a 6-8 sophomore middle blocker for No. 7 University of Southern California, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division I-II National Player of the Week. Feathers helped lead the Trojans to a 1-1 week as they faced off against two nationally ranked teams in the AVCA Coaches Poll. First up was then-No.14 UC San Diego, where the Tritons pulled off the upset despite Feathers' strong play. He finished the match with seven kills and five digs while hitting .462. USC came out strong the following day in a re-match of last year's national championship, hitting the road to play No. 1 UC Irvine. They dealt the Anteaters their first loss of the season, sweeping them away in front of 1,726 fans. The California native had a match-high 12 kills and hit .526 while adding an additional six blocks and three digs. This is the 13th time in program history a USC player has garnered Sports Imports/Player of the Week honors, with the most recent coming from Tony Ciarelli on February 8th of last year. The Trojans are coached by Bill Ferguson.
