Steven Woessner, a 6-5 freshman middle blocker for No. 2 SUNY New Paltz, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Men's Division III National Player of the Week. Led by Woessner, the Hawks rolled through the UVC Conference Tournament for their first ever conference title. For his efforts, the freshman was named the UVC Tournament MVP. Where he was truly outstanding was behind the service line where he recorded 13 aces in the final three matches. He also accumulated 17 kills with 10 of them coming against No. 6 Stevens. Defensively, he tallied 10 digs and seven blocks as they get set to play the winner of Baruch vs. Stevens in the NCAA Tournament on Friday, April 25th

This is the ninth time in program history a SUNY New Paltz student-athlete has garnered Sports Imports/Player of the Week honors, with the most recent coming from Tim Ferriter on February 18th of this year. The Hawks are coached by Radu Petrus.
